I used to be a group leader in industry; designing new medical therapies to treat various diseases then getting them into the OR and eventually into the market. Eventually, I realized I wanted something else. The massive amounts of learning, less of a drive for just pure profit motive under the guise of helping patients, mentoring studentsā¦these were all things I missed. So in 2013, I started on the path to find a TT job at a school with a heavy research focus. I got an offer in 2014 but delayed the start by a year because there was a critical project that took over my industry life. But, here I am trying to keep my head afloat in the tower. These are (mostly) the thoughts I have while sitting in my office trying to procrastinate grant applications.
